‘Wise Men Still Seek Him’ - Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols 2019

The Advent term of the year 2019 was climaxed by the Primary School with the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols titled, ‘Wise Men Still Seek Him’. It was an evening of songs, poetry and skits which celebrated the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Years 6, 5, 4 and 3 took turns to give renditions of traditional Christmas Carols such as ‘Brightest and Best’, ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High’, ‘O Come O Come Emmanuel’, Good Christian Men Rejoice’ and ‘I Saw a Maiden’.

The Nine Lessons were read by parents, pupils and the Vice-Principal.

The Good News Club also gave a beautiful performance to some contemporary music.

Years 1 and 2 brought the programme alive with an exhilarating performance to ‘All I want for Christmas’. Their performance was so delightful that Santa showed up to dance with them!

Edgiva, Tory, Michelle and Nyhira gave a rather inspiring ‘spoken word’ performance on the themes that underline the chapters of the Bible on the attributes of Jesus. The house was brought to its feet by the inspiring and passionate delivery of the pupils.

Mrs. Baitie’s Christmas message highlighted the importance of seeking the Lord like the ‘Wise Men’ of old, whilst facing the challenges of our times. She also expressed the gratitude of the Merton family for the blessings of the Lord in the year 2019.

In closing the programme, little ballerinas twirled on the court in the kaleidoscope of lights with an alluring performance to usher in the Christmas enchantment.

Primary pupils continued with their own ‘after party’ at the end of the programme, dancing enthusiastically to ‘All I want for Christmas’ on the stage with members of staff joining them in the revelry.

Indeed, the excitement of the Christmas Season, has started with the 2019 Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.
